Welcome to this Blog
My purpose in creating this second blog is to establish an RSS feed to alert my readers of my other blog, Life at Breezy Point, that I have a new post there.
My blog is about our family of four, and our life of homeschooling, using Calvert School curriculum, as well as our studies in Suzuki Violin. We also enjoy van camping when the weather is cool (definitely not now!). In 2010, we made an extended trip "out west" (i.e. the Western United States) and it was wonderful. Might we plan another one again soon???
We are a Christian family in the Reformed tradition. We try to teach our children to internalize the scriptures and the Westminster Catechism so that they can live it out in their lives and recognize false teaching when they encounter it.
We homeschool year round, and take breaks as we wish at various times of the year, resulting in the same number of lesson-days as all the other kids. For example, we take off from Thanksgiving until New Year's Day. We also take our family vacations in the fall, after the crowds have diminished.
We live a love-hate existence with modern technology. I like what the Internet has enabled for our lives, but at the same time, I don't like what the new 24/7 interconnectivity is doing to the people around us. It is our intent to balance this out as best as we see fit in our children's lives (which, for now, means almost none. Our children are 8 and 11 right now.) The same goes for video games and such. We have tried to limit that activity to a trickle and encourage activity in our home that is less "passive" -- i.e. reading and creating. Also, if anybody has any good ideas about how to discourage materialism in your children, I am all ears.
One more thing: both of our children were adopted internationally. One child is from Korea and one is from Vietnam. Can you guess who is from where?
Anyway, whenever we post to our other blog (which is private), we will notify you here. If you are interested in gaining access to our other blog, please write to me at billberna at bellsouth dot net. Tell us of your common interest with us, of you own blog (if you have one), your state of residence, and your email address, and I will see about adding you to my reading list.
If you are already a reader of my other blog, please sign up here today as a Follower or subscribe to this feed in some other way. It will keep you notified of all the new posts. Thank you!!
Have a blessed day!
